Frank Pennino founded the Pennino Jewelry Company NYC in 1926 making watch cases and fine costume jewelry using quality Austrian rhinestones and crystals and had the look of actual gemstones that were mounted in 14k gold plate or in sterling silver. It is possible that some of the Pennino jewelry was not marked. Mark: "Pennino" in script and sometimes "Pennino with a Pat. Pen. mark". The jewelry was designed with heavy plating and intricate design work. Some of the jewelry also contained bows and tassels. It was also known for using flat unfoiled rhinestones with metal framed around the stones. The company jewelry was very popular in the 1940s, is known for its fine designs and workmanship through the years, and ranks as one of the very best costume jewelry company’s of the past.
